I bought something on the bay, and i paid for it through paypal last night. Today, i got some email from paypal saying that the person who was selling the item refused to take the payment, and it said the money would be credited back to my bank account.

Now when i log onto my account on the bay, it says i need to pay for the item.

What should i do?

Hello.

I emailed the seller just now, damn i was hoping i'd get it tommorow as i need it in time for a test im taking :(. It shows the money taken from my account though.

Was it a second chance offer? if so the seller has the right to end the offer at any time but not inform you about it. The only way you know you are not going to get the item is that paypal refuses to let you pay for it.

The seller might have ended the offer and not informed you about it.

Nope normal auction. I just read a message the guy sent me through ebay. He said he had to cancel it because he cannot accept payment through card, only bank acc. He gave me the option to cancel it so i cancelled it as i don't want to pay straight through my bank account.

But the money, still shown as taken from my account. I paid via electron, how long should it take for the refused money to show up in my account?

I had that problem once before, I got the same email etc, and I got the money back I believe. I left negative feedback on their accoutn cos they never got back to me after a few weeks of emails. Eventually though it got sorted out, for some reason the money got sent to the sellers partners pay pal account, which was set to refuse any incoming payments, and it went to the partners inbox that he didnt check..was all abit random but sorted it out with the whole ebay system!
Sucks that you didnt get it in time though! Im waiting for my Zelda game that I bought off of the bay on Sunday :D

Also wait 5-7 days for the return of the money, it can take quite a while sometimes!

It could be a simple misunderstanding. I got my payment rejected because the bloke clicked refuse instead of accept! The money was re-sent and everything went through. (and I got a new Paiste Sig cymbal for £90)

If the guy accepts a credit card payment on paypal he will be paying higher commission fees.

He'll probably ask you to manually transfer money from your paypal account to his.

He might be new to eBay, and didn't anticipate Paypal leeching so much of his money.

To be fair, people should make P&P about 50p-£1 higher on cheap eBay items, to cover Paypal costs.

I honestly can't wait for a Paypal alternative. Which is hopefully cheaper. ;)

What the hell - I'm going to jack this thread for my own particular eBay fiasco.

29 Jan: Win auction for two xbox 360s from the same seller, Queen_Asshat (not real name), both at a premium to the retail price.

14 Feb: Pay for auction (faffing with verification - the seller had satted that he accepted credit card, but was unable to do so) - Seller sent emails at each stage of verification process. No reponse received.

21 Feb - 6 Mar: Multiple emails to seller, requesting confirmation of delivery / despatch - anything. No response.

6 Mar: Paypal dispute file for non-receipt of goods.

16 Mar: Dispute uncontested, I receive my funds from Paypal. And buy X-Boxes from internet retailer, which arrive the next day. Negative feedback left for Asshat.

21 Mar: Queen_Asshat emails me with shipping reference, the day his xboxes arrive chez moi, and files an appeal with Paypal, who request that I repay the money for ther xboxes.

I reply to Paypal, and Queen_Asshat, that I have no intention of paying him, but I will hold the package, unopened, for him to arrange pickup, at his expense.

22 Mar: Appeal closed.

I now have 2 extra xboxes, all free and cheap, sitting in a box in a cupboard.

For what it's worth, from the packaging, it is obvious that the package was despatched from a factory, on 16 March. Odd that.

The moral of this story?

If you don't got it, don't sell it, and don't whine when your cunning plan goes belly up.

So hang on, you paid for two Xboxes, got the money back from paypal when they didn't show up, bought another one (or two), and then had those two turn up?

So you've got two more Xboxes than you want at no extra cost, and she's gotten the money for the two she sold to you, and paypal are the ones out of pocket?

Sorted.

Nope - Queen_Asshat has no money at all, as Q_A delined to respond to any emails and / or paypal disputes.
