Hi chaps,

I've seen some Eibach Pro Kit lowering springs (for E46, lowers by 30mm) that I'm interested in, but would like to know if they would be ok with stock shocks? I'm not interested in making the ride harder/firmer, just lower.

Last time (Puma) I bought springs and shocks, as that was meant to be better. Is it the case for all cars?

30mm drop wouldn't be too bad i would have thought, a full kit with correct length shocks would make a difference though...
:)

How many miles have the existing shocks done ?
Just looking through all the receipts from the previous owner.

Looks like it had new rear shocks in August 2005. The receipts only go back to 2004. I think it was a company car before that.

edit: I have receipts for £1980 worth of services & repairs

ive been in many cars with 'uprated springs and standard dampers' and the ride is never right. the dampers are not designed to handle rebound you get from uprated springs, the ride ends up excessively harsh.

IMO its completely rubbish. try it for yourself. my brother did the same on a new clio, the ride was appauling, boarderline dangerous. he fitted uprated apex dampers later on (ie firmer dampers) and the ride improved immeasurably

at the end of it, its up to you.

I fitted those springs to my accord sport which had standard shocks. Worked just fine, ride was a little firmer but nothing bone shattering.

Depends how you drive the car, if your doing it for style and dont push it around the corners I wouldnt of thought you would notice a huge difference in the characteristics but if you push the car and enjoy the handling then I wouldnt risk spoiling that.

Think I'll get shocks as well then. Is it best to keep to Eibach for those as well?

cheers

Lowered (30mm) :)

The people that fitted them said it would be fine, and it feels great to drive now. Not bumpy but certainly a little more planted :)
