Such a shame, somebody will end up buying into this cpu and then realise their mistake.

Can't help feeling AMD have dropped a major pair of tangerines on this one.

Such a shame, somebody will end up buying into this cpu and then realise their mistake.

Can't help feeling AMD have dropped a major pair of tangerines on this one.

Anyone who buys one would probably never realise the mistake.

This is the kind of marketing I expect from money-grabbers such as PC World and Dell - the kind of company who preys on those who don't know what they're talking about with daft marketing spiel, relying on the consumer assuming that "more = better" and a higher price means a better machine. Come on, £2,400 and you don't even get a 300Mbps wireless card...

Honestly, OcUK, I expected better than this from you. Go back to doing what you do best: balanced machines comprising the best components you can source for a particular price point, along with honest marketing about what it will do and why it's worth the money.

Exhibit A:
Dual Channel 2133MHz DDR3 memory for unlimited bandwidth
You're describing it as "unlimited", seriously? Does that mean I can return it for a full refund at any point in the next 5 years under the false advertising section of the Sale of Goods act?

Take yourself aside and have a quiet word with yourself about what sort of company you want to be. Because this is not the behaviour we've come to expect from the enthusiast-oriented OcUK we know and love.

What you said about the RAM is right however they are a company, I doubt the systems will sell much because that's not their clientele however they'd be missing out on business if they didn't stock them and they're not going to stock them and say "well don't buy this, it's ****".

For that price they only give you a single 7950 gpu unless you pay more to upgrade rofl :) Who ever came up with that system and price need shooting lol.

Hyburnate, I take your point that they're a company and marketing to all price points has some merit. But I think there is a place in the world for a company which is willing to say "No, we won't lie to you - you don't need an 8-core 5GHz AMD system for £2,400" and suggest something more suitable

There are systems they could build for £2,400 which would perform better than this system. Why not build them and advertise it as what it would be: a superb, slightly over-kill SLI/CrossFire gaming rig with a big SSD and loads of RAM, in a great case, which will be able to keep up with gaming demands for several years. Suitable for those with plenty of money who want the best sensible machine available and not to have to worry about upgrading for some time to come.

Honest advertising is the way to gain loyalty, the reason many of us use places like OcUK is because we got fed up with bigger chains selling machines with a few exaggerated statistics and big marketing claims in an unbalanced, over-priced package. We went for companies who would give us genuine advice and sensible prices for good quality kit, leaving us with a balanced machine which is completely worth the money.

I'm about to drop close to £3,000 on two machines on OcUK in the next few months, it's not like I'm the sort of person who expects every machine to be a budget value-for-money rig... but I would never consider £2,400 on that machine and think less of OcUK for the way they're advertising it.

Cue "AMD FX8350 capable of 5GHz SAME AS AMD CENTURION FX-9590!!! 5GHz x 8 = 40GHz!!!" listings on a popular auction site.
