Apparently not. Ive spoken with them and they said no...

It's changed in the last year then because post #9 in this thread the Gigabyte rep on here said that while they don't encourage cooler removal it won't actually void your warranty unless you damage something. I think things are going downhill with Gigabyte recently though as it appears that you need the receipt for RMA's now which has changed from them just going by the serial number. This would mean that the warranty is no longer transferable when you sell the card or motherboard on.
