EK AIO Pump Failed?

I rose from the dead and bought some new goodies, everything fine until suddenly just now CPU temp limit and off.

In BIOS no pump speed registered, doesn’t work on any other headers. Do they really just spontaneously fail, is it worth taking it apart or fools errand? It’s probably well out of warranty.
 
They can just fail, if you hold the pipes whilst it's on can you feel any movement?

IIRC EK offered 5 year warranty on their coolers so might be worth reaching out to them (granted I don't know how you'll get on with all the trouble around EK)

I thought I heard something but seems like it’s not registering… I think it could be close to or over 5 years but agree it’s a mess there. Worth also asking any recommendations on what is good these days, I can pick up a few of the Corsair coolers by 1pm tomorrow.

Really annoying honestly I have a new PSU coming later and I seem to have snagged a reference 5080 so a pain that this decided to die.

Updated the BIOS yesterday but probably gamed on the machine for 5hrs and it’s been on all day so I think unrelated?

Pre-emptively ordered an Artic 3 Pro since it seems to have solid performance and £80… will do more investigating later.

Edit: Took it apart, removed the cooler and CPU and contact looks fine as expected (even poor contact wouldn’t hit 100c in BIOS). Looks like something on PCB has failed, right? Removed the PCB and it’s got the burn patch on the rear so I guess it decided to potato at an annoying time!

If going for another AiO I'd opt for either Arctic or Thermalright, assuming you currently have a 360mm:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £138.94 (includes delivery: £3.99)​

The Thermalright will perform on par or better with 95% of AiO's on the market, including much more expensive Corsair/Asus etc offerings.

The Arctic Freezer III is superior, but it might also be overkill and may not fit in your case due to the fact it has a thicker radiator than most AiO's (there's RGB versions of this also if that's your thing).

Thanks, it’s a fairly premium setup so ordered the Artic 3 Pro for tomorrow. £80 a lot less than I paid for the old one!

The EK pump is cooked as you can see above and I don’t have time to hang around waiting for any warranty claim to be honest. Annoying but I guess I’ll do some rejig of it all while it comes…

Good choice, you've a fairly beefy case so it should be fine to fit.

Probably the best AiO on the market right now, and if not it's not far behind and a damned sight cheaper than anything I can imagine being superior.

The case is no issue, the motherboard Strix 870E has issues with the large M2 heatsink south of the CPU but mounted the pump inverted which fits perfectly fine. Lot of noise around the internet about not being able to mount upside down but the offset brackets these work as intended. The cooling block threads are dead central so the offset doesn’t change so long as you don’t change the L and R brackets it’s all good.

Temps see very good, I’ve also gone mental and taken the chance to sort out cables, wiring in new fans from my massive box of eLoops. Seems great so far, probably likely to replace the stock fans with white eLoops with custom wires to the single connector on the block… Already taken one spare apart ;)

Does it not just cover the 1 x M.2 slot?

Can understand though, as it would spoil the look of the motherboard and as long as it is working ok.

Not it’s joined to the bit below, but seems there is nothing wrong the way it is so all good. Running Cinebench the CPU doesn’t really get much over 45c so I think we are ok :)

Just had a look at a video review of the board, that is one heck of a chunky heatsink. :eek:

Also just seen your build log, looks good. :)
