I have the EK-D5 pump. Does the Maximum pressure head (which is apparently 3.9m) mean how vertically high it can pump water?

Reason I ask, is I am in-between ideas with my next project, and I was considering moving the pumps and radiators to a different area as to where the computer is to allow for silent operation.

Yeah that's correct. The pump will be rated higher but 3.9m is what the manufacturer recommends, you'll be better off staying a bit below that though. What were you hoping to do?

My pump is mounted in a Monsoon bay res and its silent, before that it was on a metal mounting plate ontop of a piece of neoprene at a dial setting of 3 and once again it was silent.
Don't think your pump is going to be a noise issue.

I was thinking about creating an external rad box and placing the pump, rads and fans else where. Gone against that idea for the time being though until I move house.

My D5 does make a slight ticking noise, but I'm not sure if that's actually the pump or it's causing something to resonate. I'll find out the weekend when I take my loop out and test it.

Sometimes that can be the mount (The top) if it is too tight on one side, I had that noise at a certain speed. But I loosened the screws on each side by quarter of a turn, and it has never done it since.

Ah okay thanks. Mine came pre assembled with the X-Res top. When I take it all out I'll give it a check over. I'm considering buying a new pump top anyway so I can have a separate res.

When I change over the the 750D case I was planning on mounting the pump on a soggy sandwich and have a tube res mounted up near the rear fan, that way I shouldn't pass any vibration into the case.
