EK d5 X-RES block - extenders mandatory?

looking for anyone who is familiar with this block, i've had slow leaks since i got it. i noticed the first leak after i installed it - the inlet hole - as its slightly recessed into the block, my 1/4" fitting wasnt fully seated in the port. A bit of googling and someone advised using the included extender. That worked. The kit only includes 1 extender though.
its an eye sore and i hate it, but it works:

i've noticed i seem to have the same issue the other side, where i wish to use a bitspower temp probe. i've put up with this for a while as it didnt seem to to be dripping near anything important (plus i've had nowhere i can move the pc to drain it)
suprise suprise, somehow it eventually managed to kill my psu which has also caused damage to my mobo, i need to find a solution.

so my question is, has anyone used this port and know whether an extender is required here too? (i hope not, this is going to look stupid)
i've tried a new o-ring on the temp probe, made sure not to over tighten, but it still leaks! today i've removed the probe and reinstalled the plug that comes with the res, fingers crossed this stops it, but i'd like a temp sensor tbh. the plug is just to see if it stops. I notice it sits completely flush with the block, which is why i suspect its recessed like the other side. why ek.

got some cotton wool and electrical tapeto monitor it, if its blue tomorrow i know theres still an issue.

Their multi port tops are the same. If they're going to force you to use extenders why not at least include them with the reservoir / top?! I personally won't buy another EK res because of this incredibly stupid issue with them.

If you read the manual it comes with and is linked to online you will see some ports are fine without extenders. For example the back ports are fine as the design allows for it... I'm not gonna lie I rarely read instructions but I certainly read them carefully before putting water inside my expensive computer.

Manual here:
https://www.ekwb.com/shop/EK-IM/EK-IM-3831109841020.pdf

It has a massive yellow box warning you on the product page of the EK website:
"When using ports #3, #4 or #6 it is mandatory to use the enclosed EK-Extender G1/4 (EAN: 3831109845165) due the ports being recessed into the plastic Reservoir Bottom."

And finally... They now include them. So problem solved one might say.

Enclosed:
- EK-Multioption RES X3
- Pair of EK reservoir holders with mounting screws
- 2 × G1/4 extenders
- 4 × G1/4 Plugs
- 1 × 6mm Allen key for plugs
- 1 × 2,5mm allen key for reservoir holders
- 1 × polyether anti-cyclon foam

When I built mine the multi port top came with a grand total of zero extenders and zero Allen keys, so after buying the extender I then found out they used an odd sized key that came with hardly any sets, but which they obviously sell. Was more than a little ****ed off so won't be touching another EK reservoir. Why recess them? To be awkward? To make us buy extenders and Allen keys? For the lulz & to laugh at us all when they leak? Either way, never again!

*Also purchased the MP Top from OcUK, with no mention on site of any of the above issues...

I have had zero issues with my EK D5 Xres. Extender installed for the input port and I have an XSPC temp probe installed straight into the other input port. No extender needed for output.

Personally I don't see anything wrong with EK reservoirs. Everything you need to know is clearly explained in the installation manual.

Yeah i'd echo that, they sell really small extenders now presumably for that reason. Mine didn't come with any but i'd added a few to my order just in case so I was fine.

The reason they are recessed is so that when they just have a plug in them it fits flush.

I know extenders are a pain, I've forgotten to install one myself in the past and got a leak because of it but I'd rather they use that method than have the plugs fitted into unused ports sticking out.
