EK GPU 980ti TF5 water block question

Hi,

I've just received the TF5 GPU waterblock for my MSI Gaming 6 980ti graphics card. Its the full acetal + nickel block.

Just wanted to check with anyone who has fitted this block whether the original backplate can be left on?

I've already got the stock cooler removed and am using a G10 bracket to make the card hybrid. With that, the back plate has been retained. From looking at the EK instructions, it seems like it may need to go with the water block.

Any confirmation would be appreciated.

i dont think that the stock backplate is compatible when the block is installed. you may be able to bodge it somehow but from my memory you have to remove it.
