not sure if anyone is aware yet but peeps with ek nickel plated products in thier loops should inspect thier setups. theres a thread on XS forums with user complaining of corrosion/rust hitting thier kit after a few months

one of the pics from the XS thread http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/689/img0154kc.jpg/

now i am very glad i didnt go for the nickel versions of the EK 580 blocks

been running nickel stuff since EK started doing it. never had any issues.
Nickel is superb, doesnt tarnish like bare copper and looks amazing.

there is nothing to worry about.

Ek & Tibbor have already stated there looking into it and running some test there end. The is an idea it's a bad batch from the platers.

I've had Nickle from EK soon as he started and on my server it's still running 2 years solid without a fuild change

dude - stop with the scaremongering lol!

There's only a couple of peeps there that are complaining of it - more to the question is what the heck have they been running in their loops?

Been running my loop for about 8 months with nickel cpu and gpu blocks. I haven't taken it apart but water it as clear as the day it went in so assume it's all ok in there.

I would assume its something specific like a bad batch otherwise something like this would have come up before.

yeah does seem like some thing to do with the current batch, but if anyone has recently got a nickel one then it wont hurt to keep an eye on it.

Been keeping an eye on those threads and have checked my blocks and all looks well, seems to be isolated to a bad batch.

Most, if not all of your fittings will be nickel plated brass anyway, so its not as if nickel is a problem.

most think there was problem when the nickel was coated on the blocks on the current batch, if you got yours in the past few months its best to keep an eye on. eddy is investigating it so hopefully he will get to the bottom of it soon

wonder if there was some vineger or something left inside when flushing the rad out?

thx for the heads up anyway, was gona buy this week, guess i better hold off.

Saw something about this and although i don't think it is a widescale problem it was one of the things that put me off the EK kit going instead for the XSPC one better safe then sorry.

i have contacted EK about this directly. i will let you know what feedback i get from Eddy as soon as i get a reply from him guys.

Any way of telling if corrosion has occured without opening the blocks/dismantling loop ?
The water seems to be clear in the res, that good enough ?

Hmm interesting I opened my 480 block last week and there was rust in it. Fortunately it wasn't rust in the water channel. This block is a year old as well.
