EK-Quantum Kinetic FLT 360 D5 Reservoir and Asus Helios

Hi folks,

Does anyone have any experience with the EK-Quantum Kinetic FLT 360 D5 Reservoir and the Asus Helios case?

I'm currently thinking through my first custom loop with a 5900x, and unsure if there's enough clearance between the GPU first PCI-E slot, and the D5 Reservoir with it being mounted to the PSU Shroud.

Some casual build notes:

  • It will be just a CPU/Motherboard coverage on the block, I may go for GPU water cooling in the far-out future, but for convenience, I want to keep the GPU on air for a while.
  • Currently reading about the most convenient method of installing a drain method that doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

A picture of the inside of the case would be helpful, mate.

I can't talk fitment, but I've got the EK TBE version and I'm really impressed at how quiet it is, even at full speed.

How it is currently

To add the current card is an old 1000 series card - So it's fairly slimmer than a potential 3000 series upgrade - Which may mean the clearance above may not be accurate - Although I may watercool a 3000 series in order to avoid the clearance issues.

Front intake would be the SE360, as well as the roof for exhaust - I was curious perhaps due to the limited airflow in the front intake from the helios series, if it'd be worth using the rear as an intake to assist fresh air as well.
 
Disclaimer again that I've not used the FLT version, but it does look like it'd be a no go once a rad is in the front. The 120 version might be possible though? Especially if it's possible to get a freestanding mount and bring it closer to the camera, on the shroud. Maybe?

Yeah I was thinking the 360 rad (120 fan version) with the super slim for the front, might make it a tight squeeze but possible.

And have the reservoir mounted on the shroud close to the side panel, similar to how bitwit done it in the image below. Although I get worried the clearance for the reservoir against the gpu might not be enough as I believe my PSu shroud sits way higher than that

Right, sorry mate. I forgot you'd mentioned mounting it there in the original post, and was just thinking the typical location of against the wall. Regardless, 120mm tall, and about 60mm thick, it does seem like it would hit the gpu based on your measurements, even one that slim.

Yeah psu shrouds are a bit of a pain. I did my first loop in a Define 7, and thought I could get away with a thick front rad, but that plus the reservoir made it all a tricky fit. Looking at it now Al, an FLT like the pic above would have worked. Oh well, the O11D XL is here and ready :D

Aye that's why i'm a little annoyed with how little under gpu clearance this case has, it's going to somewhat force a wall mount of all reservoirs used, don't get me wrong - they still look damn nice, but would love the shroud-top mounted reservoir a little more!

Since i'm not wanting to swap out the case likely i'll have to go with the wall mount and check measurements against it.

That then becomes - I'm wondering which reservoir becomes a solid choice, sticking to the D5 or checking alternatives?
 
The D5 pumps do seem to be the prime choice, when space is no issue. Potentially check out the stubby DDC ones. Apparently they're noisier and ideally need airflow over them to keep temps down, but should be easier to fit.

I like the stub-like reservoirs but definately perfere the basin style flat ones, I found this build that looks pretty neat, perhaps may take inspiration from it, but still a very much "contemplation" phase
