Guys does the backplate for am4 fit am5 socket...
i know the sockets are identical in size but im not sure if the backplate hits any components on the back side of the motherboard.....

the motherboard i will be using is the asus x870 hero with 9800x3d.....

damn thought someone would have posted lol guess im going to have to buy the cheapest am5 cooler and steal the back plate from it :D just need to figure out now what standoff`s to buy i wonder if the stand offs i have for the am4 cpu waterblock will work :o

I don't know if every AM5 motherboard does it but the backplate seems to be glued onto the MB and not removable without a lot of force.

I have an older EK Quantum waterblock for AM4 and it needs standoffs which OCUK advertise but are out of stock. Perhaps there is something similar for the Velocity 2?

The AM5 doesn't need a back plate. I have an EK Magnitude block bought for an AM4 system and the only thing I needed to get was some AM5 compatible standoffs, seems all AM4 blocks need these little standoffs which screw into the existing metalwork on AM5 mobos. Your existing block mounting screws then screw into these standoffs.

Edit: Apparently the above of balderdash for the Velocity2, but is relevant to the Magnitude.
