I've installed inlet and outlet as bottom entry, and as per instructions I've placed the sponge on the bottom to prevent vortex. I've got a D5 pump in the loop and turned up to 5 it's a little loud so I'm going to turn it down to 2 or 3.

My question is, with reduced flow from the pump is it still ok to leave the sponge in place? I'd rather not have to remove it, but unsure whether it is restricting flow or not?

no it shouldn't, can you adjust it with it in place / working? if so, load up your system and start a benchmark running, then adjust the pump down 1 notch at a time and leave it for 10 minutes to see if it makes any difference to temps, if it climbs by like 1 or 2 degrees then no problem, if it suddenly shoots up by like 10 then you know you've gone too far

Thanks, will give it a go.
