Do EK have quality control issues with RGB or am I just unlucky?
Since starting with custom loops. I’ve ordered 3 EK items with D-RGB. 2 of them haven’t worked (properly) out of the box.
The first was my GPU block, the cable had become disconnected inside the end section. I never noticed until the loop was filled. I fixed this when performing maintenance on the loop and had it drained.
This time, while building a new loop in a new case, I’ve discovered the RGB on my EK FLT 240 doesn’t work properly. It flickers in a rainbow pattern.
In addition to the FLT, I also have 6 Light Wings fans, an EK Velocity CPU block and an EK GPU block with RGB. My motherboard only has one addressable RGB header which I have hooked up to a Light Wings hub. This hub is powered via a sata connection. The fans are daisy chained so only use 2 of the 6 hub connections. The 2 blocks use another 2 of the ports on the hub. All these work fine.
When I plug the FLT in to the hub, it lights up but flickers and stays in the rainbow pattern. If I unplug something from the hub, the FLT switches to white and gets a wee bit brighter. But it still flickers and doesn’t adopt the blue colour I have the RGB set to.
If I plug the FLT into the hub on its own, it still flickers so I don’t believe it’s a power issue.
Is this likely to be the RGB in the FLT being faulty?
