So need a new block as i am going 1366 to 1150.
Is the new block worth buying. Is it just ek finding a way to sell of miss milled evo's or is it a genuine block they intended to make.

Dose it perform like an evo or dose it just look like an evo.

A user here called VSG28 did a review of it:

From a performance to price basis, the Supremacy MX easily provides the most bang for your buck here. EK has on their hands a CPU block that rivals/beats out contemporaries and can be upgraded to the full Evo by purchasing the additional inserts/jetplates as per your specific needs.

I have the Supreme LTX which is the previous bang for buck block and am very impressed by the performance.

Yeah like he said it is a replacement for the Supreme LTX and the cost savings are in design and construction along with the lack of the insert/jet plate options. As it comes, it is a pretty good block.

Will the evo upgrade fit the mx

Yes but unnecessary since they share the same internals. The MX just lack the extra jet plates and insert, the mounting backplate is different and the MX doesn't come with the PreciseMount mechanism that comes with the EVO.

Basically all you would need to get to upgrade an MX to an EVO is the backplate and the PreciseMount kit.

The only thing you would miss after that is the J3 Jetplate (the J2 Jetplate comes with the PreciseMount kit) and the Insert I1.

TBF i am getting 47c under load(prime95) on my de-lidded 4670K @ 4.3Ghz.

The way this block mount's on 1150 is perfect for de-lidded CPU's. the lower profile of the cpu without the IHS mean the block makes contact with the die when your screwed about 3/4 on the way in so the last 1.5mm(ish) of thread just put's(in my eyes) the right amount of presser on the chip. and because you have to screw it all the way home you know the block is level and not too tight on my corner

For £35 top job EK
