Hi All,

I realise this is a bit of a long shot, but I've got an original EK velocity intel cpu block and was wondering if anyone knows if there's a mounting kit you can get for current gen intel/AM5 for it?

I used the product number from OcUK to find the compatibility list on the EK website and that wasn't particularly useful.

The only other thing I could find is this replacement mounting bracket and backplate, but it's only AM4.

So... any clues, or am I SOL with the block because it's too old for EK to care about?

If that mounting bracket works with
A standard amd backplate for am4
Then it should also fit am5
If the linked backplate isn't standard am4
Then no shouldn't work for am5
Or at least not easily
As I understand it am5 to fit a custom backplate
There's extra screws that hold the cpu socket
Those go into the am5 backplate
As well as the mounting screws

AM5 has additional hardware that means you can't swap out the backplate. This is related to going LGA and so needing an extra mechanism to hold the CPU in place. It looks like you'll need a new block sadly :(

You should be able to use the AM4 mounting bracket to convert the old intel block to am4 (AM5 uses the same spacings) and then fit it with the am5 standoffs.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £11.69 (includes delivery: £8.70)

It looks like you use the standard AM5 backplate now.

Oh nice one, thanks for the info! So other than whatever the obscene shipping is for EK, it's actually not that expensive to do... may be worth trying to keep the old block going after all :D

After all that I've looked at the reviews and decided to go with a 13600kf and a z690 board because I can keep the DDR4 and save a bundle for better performance than the 7700 in my use case
