Elbow Injury

Hey Guys,

First of all ill apologies for the randomness of this thread, im just seeking a little... errrm support i guess.

Ok, this story goes:

I fell over on wednesday night and landed quite heavily on a pavement with my elbow taking pretty much full brunt. I went to the hospital the day after because the bleeding was quite heavy. So i went there and they cleaned the wound and dressed it and told me to come back saturday, so i did.

I went back today and got told its infected and they prescribed me some "Erythroimycin" some sort of antibiotic and i now have to go back on monday.

Might seem a really stupid question but its plauging me, what are the chances i might lose a limb? I was going to ask but thought it might be "Over-reacting".

Its swollen a bit but i still have full movement / feeling in it, the elbow itself is red and swollen.

very very low I would have thought unless you live in a cess pit and dont take the antibiotics

Yeah an infection is pretty bad. If these meds dont clear it up and they dont act fast theres a high chance they will remove it all from the shoulder. :( I wouldnt worry about it, those meds are pretty good.
 
If it's swelling is really bad it could swell up and explode and then losing a limb would be the least of your worries :(.
 
Going by my calculations there is a 74.784573% chance you will lose your arm from the shoulder down.

Surely it would be more of a stump if it was at a knee joint? =)

The medicine best work because the side effects are vaginal discharge, im sure i will struggle with that :(
 
I did something very similar last summer. I think it was an insect bite that became infected. There was a build up of puss under my skin that got pretty bad. Once the skin around my arm at the elbow was stretched as much as it would go, the rest of my arm started to swell up. My whole forearm was about twice its normal size at one point. I was given some sort of anti-biotic, but i dont know its name.

Anyway, it did "explode" as some people here said, while in the bath, it all started pouring out the little bite on my elbow. It was really disgusting :D

My brother filmed the last of it and put it on youtube :p but im not going to post the link here.

(i still have my arm btw)
