Elbow pads

Has anyone else noticed and is annoyed by the amount of clothes which come with elbow pads these days? I walk into a shop, spot a nice looking jumper/jacket, take it off the hanger to go and try it on only to notice the vile things stuck on to the elbows. Shoulder pads are almost as bad.

Examples:

These garments would be quite nice if it wasn't for the damn elbow pads! River Island seem to be the worst culprit from what I've seen.

Is it just me who thinks it makes you look like a middle aged history teacher?

Burtons do a lot of the patch things as well.

The joyous thing about fashion is that there will be a new trend in a week...

They probably realised that a lot of their customers don't know their arse from their elbow, so the designers added them as a subtle aid.

I noticed quite a few people in Plymouth when I was home for Xmas wearing what looked like quilted shooting jackets with the pad on the left (as you look at them). Looking at the lads wearing them I'd be surprised if they knew the difference between a pheasant and a partridge, they'd probably think Holland & Holland are the places that sell supplements.
