Elder Scrolls 5 - Is It Coming?

Here's hoping Patrick Stewart can somehow make a comeback :D.

For me, Oblivion didn't have the same re-playability as Morrowind, I can't quite put my finger on why. I think it was due to the game having its console feel, and despite having a top-spec PC, the loading times and constant terrain loads were irritating.

Would love an ESV, and would certainly get it, but I'd just be expecting another pc to console port that will ruin it for PC gamers.

I emailed Bethesda a month or so Oblivion came out and the reply I got said that they would be doing another one but they would be working on other stuff before they would start making the new one.

everything i read just seemed like little fixes that should have been in but were added by a simple mod any way.

tbh the trouble i found with oblivion was it didn't feel alive enough, the world was huge but it was very obviously just a game, with tiny little towns, e.g. the imperial city, supopsed to be this massive city center of whatever area the game is set, the town was tiny, with pretty much only beggers and shop keepers. Even with mods to add more people it still felt not alive enough.

Just got assassins creed yesterday and the first town i really love, the castle on top of the hill, little houses all the way down, this is imo what needs to be improved in oblivion making the places you visit far greater then they were,

oh and also remove about 90% of the ruins/relic/caves/etc

Yep I felt the same.

It could have been a fantastic game but the MAIN thing that ruined it for me (apart from levelling mobs but like you say MODS available) is the combat. It's so incredibly basic and mind numbing.

From a reliable source in the gaming world (my brother who works for a spotty company that likes games :D) the answer/rumour is that they are working on Elder scrolls online.

i hope they dont make it online, the only part that would be cool online would be like if they made a arena where you could all meet up and hang out then go and fight huge monsters or each other .

I think co-op would be banging. Like, getting a party of you and your mates going about exploring. Like I said earlier though, so long as the game world is big and interesting i'll be hooked.

Bethesda did patent Skyrim just after Oblivion was released so its assumed this is going to be the location of ESV as they did the same with the patents of Oblivion and Morrowind.

My understanding is that they have patented all the regions of their world, and not just Skyrim.

As for the on-line thing, I have also heard that they are looking into it, but probably as a joint venture, with Bethesda supplying the ideas and direction, but the other company doing most of the work. It will also be completely separate from all the "true" ES series, including 5. Which yes, is in planning stages.
