Elder Scrolls: Oblivion GOTY - mods?

@Evilsod: When was the last time you did a bashed/merged patch, I see it on your list but isn't at the end of the load order, it should always be at the very bottom. Have you tried looking at the load order help page on the Fcom site?. (Bare in mind I haven't modded Oblivion in ages, might of changed)

Yeah i noticed that while looking at it. I don't remember now, pretty sure i made a bashed patch to include everything but it doesn't matter, its been a long time since i played it and last i checked it was working fine.

Well i think if you can get Qarls working then thats pretty simple to do. It gives you instructions after all. Mine just won't work for whatever reason.
Unofficial Patches are easy to install, the problem is finding them to download.

If all you really want is that then just get Qarls TP and Bomrets SI TP, then get the Unofficial Patches which fix more than Bethesda ever could. I would still recommend getting DarnUI or the version posted above, i like my colour map mod too. All really easy to install if you get OMOD versions since OBMM does pretty much everything for you.

Urgh, this is all a bit overwhelming!

I don't particularly want to change the game play, just fix any bugs (I see there are patches - although are these not fixed in GOTY edition?) and make the graphics more up to date.

What is MMO and OOO? Doesn't mean nothing to me!

Just go for Qarls texture pack and the unofficial patches.

Oh it all sounds like a bit too much hastle. I just wanted an nice easy fix to make it look more up-to-date.

Thanks anyways :)

Darn's UI
Qarls texture pack
Unofficial Oblivion patch
Mart's Monster Mod

Those are the essentials I wouldn't play Oblivion without. OOO and other overhauls change the game a hell of a lot. The above just make it plain better without changing how everything works in the game. I recommend MMM because I love exploring and finding monsters to fight. MMM adds a huge number of new monsters, it makes exploring far more fun.

Note that you can simply install those mods in any order. MMM is the only thing that changes a few aspects of the game that might conflict with other mods. You won't have any trouble installing those 4 - just install them and run the game and you'll be fine. I would recommend a few others though but it's not essential. Like Reneers Guard Overhaul, because if you're like me and enjoy breaking into houses and stealing things, this mod is absolutely essential. It stops the guards from being psychic and makes it so you are actually rewarded for being sneaky and not getting caught. Also, denock arrows. Again if you're like me and use the bow as your primary weapon, being able to denock your arrows instead of shooting them into the floor is extremely helpful. Once you get up to this many mods though you need to start worrying about the load order. I recommend just running BOSS (better Oblivion sorting software) and letting that do the work for you.

Damn you :(

Just about to finish downloading Batman Arkham Asylum but now I feel like reinstalling Oblivion & playing that instead :)

Thing is, last time I tried to replay it all the grass was purple. Tried reinstalling it again but this time with no mods but still crappy purple grass when I exited the sewer.

Anyone know of a way to fix this? Don't fancy a reformat at the mo....

Thanks, I installed the four suggested above with minimal issues.

A question on the Monster Mod: it gave me a list of options before loading, so I selected all(!). It seemed a bit overkill, which is probably quite obvious in hindsight! I had a quick walk round in game and there was a dinosaur which seemed a little out of place, and literally dozens of other monsters and people attacking me.

Are you able to recommend which install options I should go for to get the balance right? Or is it just a trial and error approach?

Thanks for the help thus far.
