Hi everyone,

I'm getting this in a few days (as soon as I get the bulk of my Uni work done!) Anyway, am I going to have major problems running the game on my setup so it looks quite pretty?

2800+ AMD 64/Windows XP Pro/1gb PC3200/128mb 6600GT/Loads of Hard Drive Space.

I currently run UT2004 comfortably at 2x AA, 16x AF and max resolution (1280x1024)

No Spoilers Please!

Cheers!

I started playing the gae with an XFX Geforce 6600GT, but was offered an ATI X800 pro at a good price so i am now using that. I used the Geforce until i got outside and i only noticed one slight pause, when a lot of gaurds were running at me at once.

There are some nVidia tweaks out there, and some customer drivers too. RAM should be fne, im running mine with 1GB, not sure about yor CPU, it will probably be fine through.

I'm not sure how adaptable it is, but you could try using this config I was linked to, if you have problems (after install, shove it in My Documents\My Games\Oblivion). I've got a slightly slower system to yours (9800pro, 2700+ XP), and it helped loads. It's made it a lot less jerky than it was for me anyway, but then my system was handily almost identical to the guy who's config it is. Worth a try anyway. :)

EDITED to add: For some reason, if you use that config, you can't load the launcher for the game, and have to load the main .exe directly, or it resets all the video settings. Or at least, it does for me, and I can't work out why.

1.83ghz on 166 bus /w 1.25gig me and an unclocked 6600GT here and the game is ok. Mine is probably in the low teens at busy times but is still 'fine' for me.

Depends on your deffinition of fine though. I'm a bit  at all the recent peeps moaning about 'only' getting 25fps on their systems whilst running 8xAA and lots of other 3 letter acronyms I dont know what stand for.

You need to change the master .ini file, in the oblivion folder, not the user settings in my documents.

At least that is what I think you need to do :p

i've got it running with HDR with a textures at max on my 6600gt. The grass is the big FPS screwer so I disabled that. I was running at 1024x768 but 800x600 makes the game much smoother. Overclocking the card didn't boost my FPS much so I'll try overclocking my AMD64 3000
