So I've been harassed by letters from the local Electoral Services office lately asking me to provide information on "who is eligible to register to vote" at my address (household).

Is this new or something? I feel like a complete dummy.

"It's important to provide the information requested; if you don't you could be fined £1000" I didn't realise we are forced to make known the details of eligible people?

PS. Yes I am already registered to vote at this address, I was ignoring their communications because I didn't want to fill out a 3 page form when I'm the only person living here

if nothing has changed you literally just have to text 2 numbers to them. Or put those numbers into the website on the front page

Harassed in a world where words hurt, and effort of typing numbers in online is difficult.
They try to keep the electoral register up to date, as it gives an idea of future provision of funding for various things, and also to keep the voter pool as large as possible.
It isn't difficult.

But its offensive to be threatened by what is little more than a tax on people with low-attention spans.

Just another attack on non-normatives, its hardly like government even gives a **** about funding things well, they just want to fund their politically driven crap, wait til it fails and blame it on the next government.

I keep getting threatened with an £80 fine if I don't register to vote. I'm already registered, but if they are too stupid to see this then they can sod off. I just throw the letters away now. It's crazy that I'm being forced to in the first place!

We had a hand delivered one from Eastleigh Borough Council today saying we had to respond.

It also says 'it's optional but failure to respond may result in a £1,000 fine'.. Well, it's not optional then is it, it's forced.

I have no problems voting to register, but don't be a wang about it.
