I bought Electric president's s/t album today, (along with a wacom graphics tablet which has been rather fun to play with) anyways yeh. Rewind time to summer 2004 which when I bought the Postal Service album which has probably been my most repeatedly played album since I got it, and I always wanted to find a band with a similar style; yet not as harsh as DNTEL.

I love the ambient indie-electronic style that you find with bands like these. The song Insomnia which was apparently featured on The Oc recently which I didn't know about it a great song, great calm vocals and stuff. I thoroughly recommend it if you're into The Postal Service, as I am and although I have been recommended bands like Styrofoam and The Books I think my liking for Electric President surpasses those.

I've sort of forgotten why I'm about to post this but I think it was just a recommendation to them if you're into the dead chilled ambient style, similar to the postal service, oh and could you post any recommendations for me, please. :)

couple of other bands i like will be on here: http://www.last.fm/user/Randomtom

what album are you currently liking? (carzy? :))

"Pivot - Make Me Love You" is a fantastic electronic/ambient album.

"The Samuel Jackson Five - Easily Misunderstood" is one of my favourite albums of 2005. Chilled instrumental post-rock-esque stuff. It's not as sparse as a lot of post-rock too.

"The Timeout Drawer - Nowonmai" is a great post-rock album with electronic bits and bobs. Chilled out in places, and fiercely aggressive in others.

In terms of albums I'm listening to at the moment which I like:

"The Sounds of Animals Fighting - Tiger And The Duke" is amazing, containing members from Finch, RX Bandits, Chiodos and the singer from Saosin, it's pretty experimental for those kind of artists, but retains some of the key characteristics of their former bands (or current as the case may be).

(I'll add to this bit a bit later as I've just been hit by a wave of tiredness and subsequently am going to bed :p)

Enjoy...

Thanks for the list, I'll check into those later, but I've quoted this bit to say that my friend has been trying to get me to listen to the Tiger and the Duke album for quite a while because she sort of knows the chiodos brothers, so yeh I think I might have to give these a listen now, :)

I got EP's album a bit ago (i thought it was called s/+ ;) ), and it has been well played, an excellent chilled album, perfect for lazy summer afternoons  Damn the OC for making good music uncool because it is featured on the show :p

Have to say I'm also loving some of the Postals Services random stuff extra to Give Up (like their excellent cover of Against All Odds)

In a similar vein I would also recommend Tunng, who also excellently combine acoustic/mellow folksy songs with electronic accompaniment.

I'm going to suggest Fiery Furnaces - Blueberry Boat. Some people seem to find it hard to listen to given the insane number of ideas packed into each song but I'd still strongly recommend it.

On the subject of difficult music, give Xiu Xiu a go.

Give some Stereolab and Tortoise a listen if you haven't already.

Tunng and The Sound Of Animals Fighting are both good calls.
