Hi guys..

I am having problems with one of my electric windows, the window on the passenger side will open/go down fine and up again if operated by the controls on the passenger side.
But i also have controls for the passenger window on the drivers side door too. Using the controls on the drivers side door I can get the passenger to go up/close fine with no problems.. but 99.99% using the controls on the drivers side control i can not make the passenger window go down. My car is a 1998 mitsubishi carisma.
Can anyone shed any light into what i need to look at?
THanks in advance guys :)

The offending switch on drivers side for a start

Check how to remove drivers door card etc

For just over 3 quid go and buy a can of electrical contact cleaner which leaves no residue, Certain chain of electrical stores sell them in-store

Once switch is off (more than likely you have to pry out switch before removing door card) check for corrosion and scratch/clean metal prongs that block goes onto

Use some contact cleaner all in crevices of the switch (old switches could be took apart but most modern ones are so fiddly when took apart you'll prolly end up naffing it up)

Check loom for water ingress/loose joins etc etc (loom will usually be tied onto door)

After checking/cleaning all the obvious try switch

If still no good, Try if possible to tighten the connectors (where a pin is try to slightly bend it up/down left/right etc and responding connector try to tighten (like a spade fitting try to make the slot smaller slightly))

So with all this done and still the same it looks like the switch may of worn out

If possible try to check loom from door to wherever the alarm/locking control box is, On some cars (ford mondeo mk2's) there is a known join drivers side under carpet that causes problems with a loose connection))

My money is on a bad contact either from loom to switch block or the contacts themselves in the switch

Did a car today with same problem and a couple other electrical probs lol

Sweet as a nut now just tightened connection block up at the switch and contact cleaned the switch

The above should start you off in the right direction anyways
