Hi,

The power lead/adapter on my Pure DAB has given up the ghost, it'll work if you can get the lead to stay in a particular place but obviously there is some sort of break inside it and it has to be replaced.

I dont mind getting a new one, but i do have some old similar adapters from old scanners etc that will physically fit. On the Pure adapter it says the following - 230v - 50hz - 130mA, on the generic adapters it says the same except for the last bit which says 500mA.

Question is this - will it be safe to use this as a replacement?, or should i stop being a tight git and buy the proper one. I would rather not kill my radio just to find out.

Thanks.

its a sealed plug thing that resists all attempts at opening it up. Im fairly sure its just a break in the wire rather than the fuse, but seeing as its glued shut i can't chop away the offending bit.

No I mean swap the fuse from the broken plug in to the non-broken one but if its moulded then you've got no chance.

I dunno, I don't really know anything about fuses, I would hazard a guess at it being fine seeing as its higher rated fuse and its only like 400ma difference but probably worth waiting for someone who knows what they are talking about :D

The 500mA refers to the current that that adapter is able to supply, the device will only draw what it needs.

Will be fine to use this one

It won’t do it any harm. Your radio will draw 130mA and the power supply can handle 500mA draw. I’m using a replacement 500mA supply on my Sonus-1XT.

Be careful, that sounds like it's describing the input of the adapter. I know the adapter for my Pure DAB outputs 12V DC at a maximum of 0.6A

I bought a replacement PSU on ebay for my Pure DAB.

Chuck the model number in, and you'll find loads on there :)

Until it breaks and then draws more than it can handle and the fuse doesn't stop it...

Option 1: Chop off the moulded plug and re-fit a standard plug with the correct fuse
Option 2: Buy a new lead on ebay
