Ok so I am going to the us for easter and I will be taking a few electrical appliances. What i'd like to know is on a couple of the appliances it says 100v-240v 50/60hz, so presumably if I bought a US cable to connect to that appliance it would work fine?

Yep it meets the requirements for both UK and US power.

some power supplies and other devices have a voltage selector too that doesnt automatically change between the 2 countries
