Car wont start this morning and was definatly iffy last night when i finished work. Its been cold recently so thought perhaps the battery had died a death. Symptoms are:

Put the key in, let the fuel pump prime, SRS light out, then try and turn it over and you can hear the starter try to crank the car but doesnt have the power to, all the electrical lights flicker, handbrake/oil/internal light all flicker and it doesnt turn over....

The same thing occurs if you dont try to crank it and turn the dipped beam or full beam lights on, the lights dont come on and all the other lights dim and dash lights flicker.

Replaced with a brand new battery and cleaned the earthing points onto the chassis with no effect....

Any ideas, just want to kill the bloody thing at this moment in time!

Well you've done what I would have done and changed the battery / cleaned the earthing points.

Put a multimeter across the positive battery terminal and the car chassis and measure the voltage.

Will try and bump start it tomorrow, but the general consensus on RT is that the starter is jammed.

Battery should be good as ive got a brand spanking new one as well as my old one.

Why would a jammed starter stop the main lights from coming on? It wouldn't. I still say there's an electrical problem somewhere, have you tried testing the voltage from the positive battery terminal and the car chassis?
