Electrical intermittant clicking coming from the motherboard?

Just had someone phone me who said there laptop has started clicking in the same pattern, its not a machincal clicking sound, but more electrical, however he says the laptop still powers on and works fine, still displays fine.

Does anyone know if this could be a motherboard on its way out? or something else?

Dont worry, found the issue, battery was making the noise, and the battery was dead anyway, will not hold a charge.
