Hi guys, I wasnt sure which area to post this in but I was sure that some OCUK's would be able to help me/point me in the right direction.

Basically I was using my trusty jigsaw the other day and it blew up on me quite spectacularly, anyway I took it apart to try and find the cause (expecting lack of carbon brushes) and found this little capacitor type object:

I wonder if anyone could tell me what it is? and where I can get a new one? and possibly what may have caused it to self destruct?

Many Thanks
James

ok, by that logic then, if I just bypass it then the tool should still work but may interfere with radios etc? do you think that a "general" RF suppression cap would work? as im having difficulty sourcing one with exactly the same markings etc.

bit of research tells me that yes it should just work and interfere with close radios etc, might try that and if it does work get an RF suppression cap.

I have found the one on that website but I guess I cannot order from the UK, and idea where I could get one in the uk?

Hi Tealc,

I bypassed it tonight and the jigsaw worked, i put it up near to the radio and no interference whatsoever! the Germans must make decent motors!

Can you see any major issues with this? its only for home/diy applications so not going to interfere with much I guess...

Thanks again for your help.
