Electrical tape on components?

I have several LED's in my case which can't switch off and I want a removable way to block the lights. Is electrical tape safe? Or what else would be suitable??

I use black electrical tape on my front LED's. Had it on now for around 7months, no problems here

Insulation tape does leave behind a residue though which is totally safe but may leave a sticky substance on your LEDs.

I used to use PVC tape on my hard disk activity led but in the end I just changed the led from eye searingly bright blue to subdued orange.

Electrical tape is exactly for this sort of thing. Be aware depending on the way it's attached and the quality of the tape (not to mention heat) it 'may' fall off.
