electrically dead and now bubbles in fuel line

heya - scratching my head here - car was fine when I came home from lunch - but when I got back in to go back to work , nothing - dashboard lights came on then everything turned off and nothing.

charged battery but it had a full charge in it.

car is a citroen synergie 1.9 TD.

fuses appear to be all fine (inc engine bay)

so ,now i can wiggle the negative terminal and it brings power back BUT trying to start it dies again.

running a bypass to the chassis doesn't help

maybe battery or terminal?

A few years ago I had the same symptoms car was absolutely fine then just dead. AA bloke diagnosed it as a broken battery, (broken internally between one or more cells) you could rattle the battery and it would come back momentarily then just die. He put it down to the ever increasing number of road calming humps that just jar the car and battery. Can you borrow a battery to try and eliminate it before buying one?

Odds are it is the battery, even if it says it is fully charged. The first thing I would do is swap it out and see if that fixes it.

Have had this before in car. Everything fine and then one morning nothing. A cell had collapsed in the battery.

Most likely the earth strap, had this snap once when I was doing a three point turn. Let's just say I had to push the car back.

replaced the negative terminal and voila we have power! but

now it turns over and over and is hard work to start

thank you all!

got the electrics sorted - now im stuck with bubbles in the fuel line , flowing from the fuel filter housing

diesel primer needs 4 or 5 squeezes to get it firm
