Hey,

I just want to ask a few questions really for all the electricians in this forum.

I currently finished my contract at Chester Zoo as a retail employee (work is work) but as I'm qualified in 2330 Level 2/3, 17th Edition, CSCS I'm finding it hard to get work as a Mate (most likely due to lack of experience) or anything else.

What can I do?

Is their any point in doing voluntary work as a mate? go around handing CV's to various Electrical based companies?

I've been trying a while now to get mate's work but it just seems impossible, I'm currently looking for busy work until (hopefully) something I've trained to do comes along, but I will honestly do anything to get into the trade.

Anyone in the same situation as me?

Cheers

that kind of works its best to go to sites find the forman and offer a days free work to show you know you stuff, once you get a rep. then more jobs will come, but their is not a lot of work in that sector now i know a few muilt skilled builders that are realy struggling

I really wouldn't mind doing that, I've phoned a few agencies today and I've got an interview to get me signed on to them but overall I'm just wondering if it's worthwhile doing my 2391?

it's obviously the last qualification that I need but for some reason I've always been put off it, though I really would like some experience before I go for it.

Not a lot out there atm tbh, You will get a few bits on agency I'd imagine. The problem with the 2391 is it's so expensive to complete and fairly tough to pass. Most of the work through agency won't require it but will require asbestos awareness.
