I need a cheap electro-acoustic to record a composition for a final-year university project. How cheap can I go before it sounds awful (bearing in mind I dont have high standards at all)?

Ideally I don't want to spend over a hundred pounds. I'm new to Electro-acoustics so I don't know how much price is going to affect the quality; is there a price limit under which they just sound terrible or am I going to get a tolerable sound out of pretty much most cheap builds.

It doesn't need to sound brilliant, but I don't want to go and spend 70 quid on a guitar only to take it home and find that it barely even resembles the sound of an acoustic.

Cheers,

can you not rent one from your local guitar shop?

if you only need it to record a composition i'm sure that its possible.

they may ask for a deposit but you'll get that back if you take good care of the guitar.

The sound of an electro is really another instrument in yourself. Its very trebbly and percussive.

If you want to record and have the luxury of a studio over a live setting then just mic up the sound-hole of the guitar. Or mic the guitar and take an output from an electro and mix as desired. :)
