Electronic Drum Kit advice

Hey all, I'm looking at the possibility of getting myself an electronic drum kit over christmas and just wondered if anyone has any experience with them? Was looking at the Roland TD-12K in particular...as it seemed to be sorta middle of the road in the Roland range.

How do they compare to standard kits in terms of sound quality, playability etc?

I don't play in a band as such, and guitar is my instrument of choice, but I do like to drum when I get the chance (which is only occasionally now as we don't have a proper kit) and would like to improve my skills. It would come in useful when recording tracks etc.

Hi,

I switched to Roland V-drums about 3 years ago and have never looked back. I have a TD6 kit so only the snare is a mesh pad, but I very soon got used to the feel of the rubber pads. If you are looking at a 12 you won't be dissapointed. The versatility a decent electric kit gives you is fantastic and I genuinely don't miss having an acoustic kit.
