I have been getting into a couple of bands lately, Ladyhawke and Empires of the Sun and liking their sound. I am looking for other bands with a similar sound, I know about Daft Punk, Air, MGMT and Royksopp.

Any others I should be checking out?

Late of the Pier
Datarock
Delphic
Filthy Dukes
Hot Chip
Jesse Rose
Joakim
Metronomy
The Ashton Shuffle
New Young Pony Club
Passion Pit
Phoenix
Soulwax
Tiga
Tom Vek

Some of these are more poppy than others, some are very Electro/Housey and others are just Indie.

Out of those i really recommend Late of the Pier for the Indie/rock/electro vibes, Jesse Rose some great house tracks with vocals, Soulwax in my books cant do anything wrong with the synth's they gather. Finally Tom Vek from what i understand was abit of a pioneer and love his stuff to bits.

Thanks this will give me something to listen to at work, just hope they are on Spotify :)

Time for lunch!

The Filthy Duke's Fabric Live album is excellent. Have you listened to the new MGMT album as it is much much better than the first. Also I'd back up what Slashiem said about Jesse Rose being well worth a listen, the essential mix he did for Radio 1 a while back is superb. I'd give Mogwai a listen as well.

I see your in Glasgow mate

Are there any club nights that have this sort of music. I once saw Erol Alkan in Edinburgh and he blew the roof off. I know about the arches but its mainly trance nights I would associate with there.

If you like Royksopp you might have heard some of the tracks they have done with Karin Dreijer Andersson as guest voclist, in which case chck out The Knife (Silent Shout) and her solo project Fever Ray (eponymously amed album) - probably a bit less 'poppy' but aristically superior electronica imo.

Also you could check out Siian Mobile Disco and Digitalism.

If you want to go back a while, don't forget that Underworld and Leftfield have produced some of the best electronic music to date.

The Arches is far from just trance, in fact Erol Alkan will no doubt be playing Death Disco in the run up to Christmas like usual. Laidback Luke is playing in November as well which should be good. Plenty non trance stuff like Modeselektor, Slam, Boys Noize, Richie Hawtin for a few examples.

If it's the new wave of electro stuff you're into Death Disco is probably your best bet. Japanese Popstars, Bloody Beetroots, Erol Alkan type stuff is the norm still I think but be prepared for a pretty diverse/interesting bunch of folk.

Pressure is the best for me though - good mix of house and techno. Get's plenty big names as well like Boys Noize, Jesse Rose, Carl Craig etc.

Subclub is superb as well - Skream there will probably remain a highlight for the rest of my life.

Best bet is to get on the arches/subclub mailing lists to keep on top of what nights are coming up.

I know this is an old thread, but it popped up when searching "Metronomy". Going to see them in april. (Last saw them in 2008, were bloody awesome) :)

Anywho, might I suggest giving Does It Offend You, Yeah? a try, also, Holy ****, Passion Pit and Simian Mobile Disco are pretty good.
