Electronics - Ceramic Earphone

Hi,

I recently purchased an electronics kit. I figured it would be a bit of fun to have a play with leading up to (Hopefully! Grades permitting) an Electronic Engineering course at University beginning next academic year.... Who knows - Might even help me out...

Anyways I was going through one of the projects in the kit and after completing it, following the instructions exactly, it did not work. I got a multimeter on it and the only place I could find in the circuit which does not pass the continuity test was the Ceramic Earphone (I take it this is meant to pass the continuity test, right?)...

So I presume that the reason for it not working is a dud component - The Ceramic Earphone.

I'd really like to get another one of these - To replace the one that the kit originally came with - I'm sure I'll need it for a fair few projects in the kit just yet!

If anybody knows any place I would be able to buy one of these (Only need one...) or perhaps if anybody could sort me out with one it'd be great - Any help appreiciated.

Here are some photos of the component (Incase these may be known by another name, for example - I really don't know *that* much electronics just yet)...

Many thanks in advanced.

Dan.
