ELI5: Why is GBP pricing equal to USD pricing?

i used to buy gpu's in HK that were 30% cheaper than here, and everything in HK costs a bomb.

That implies that goods are cheaper in the US because its subsidized by the government thanks to not spending as much on public health care, which isn't true, they aren't subsidizing prices of your favourite tv or whatever

But it does suggest, the USA is ripped off for their health care.
