Elite Dangerous desktop shortcut?

Hello, Just finished installing my OR CV1 again, all software now on a larger games drive rather than clogging up my 120GB OS SSD like last time.

My question, I did what you have to do to port my Steam purchase of Elite Dangerous over to the Oculus store, but I'd still prefer to launch the game from the desktop if possible.

I'm just back from making a short-cut from my G: drive to the desktop from the Oculus folder and that gives a message saying something like, this is not supported and errors may occur or something? Went ahead and tried anyway and put on the headset and then get a message saying sorry for long loading, please check game directory or something.

Sorry for being so vague with the error messages, but anyone who has tried to create a desktop short-cut from the Oculus folder/store must know what I mean.

Can it be done?

There's an option on the Elite Dangerous website (I purchased from them) where you can generate an Oculus store code. Paste that into Oculus home and you get it in your menu.

Not 100% sure if Steam offers this though but I think you have to signup through them anyway so it's probably available for everyone.

I think you misunderstand me my friend?

I originally bought Elite Dangerous (and the add on) from Steam, later before this new build, went through the procedure to get it onto the Oculus store because I thought that would be easier for VR, and that worked fine ...

However, what I'd like is a dedicated desktop icon to start the game with, but you have to start it from the Oculus store it seems?

I was hoping for a workaround to get a desktop icon back again, not a biggie.just a personal preference on how I like to start games.

Cheers.

Just create a shortcut to the game executable. Oculus home starts itself if it's not already running (to support the Rift hardware) and then game will launch.

Thanks Roy, did see that post when I googled this issue before I posted here and tried that, it comes up with a warning things may not work correctly or something, and it was taking forever to get the game to load, so assumed that was what was meant by the warning?

Will try launch the game for the first time since the new build from the Store later, get it configured ETC, then try creating a short cut from the exe on my desktop and try once more.

Thanks.
