Okay I have a XFX 290x which is a fairly decent card I think. I can play Alien Isolation on top settings. However I'm getting some serious slow downs on the subject titled game. Now my PC I think may need an upgrade I've got a 965 Black Edition CPU and 4Gb of ram.
A few people on the ED forums reckon it might just be the code on the game isn't streamlined right now. What do you guys think, could it be that or could it be that my machine is in need for a total upgrade?

CPU is weak, I have it in my second rig and it's showing it's age. A decent Z97 board and i5 will sort you out.

Also, another 4GB of RAM will be helpful.

X99 ideal for multi GPU and benchmarking as well as thread heavy applications, i5 + z97 ideal for gaming on a single GPU.

ED is still very much in beta state.

4GB of RAM could potentially be holding you back a bit especially if you've got a lot of software installed and/or running at the same time - see how much you have free when playing serious slowdowns (ignoring beta considerations) are often a sign of significant levels of paging data in and out of RAM.

Yeah I've got a SSD, I hated waiting for Windows to boot up. Rroff, you could be right. I think 8Gb is minimum these days, probably I'll add to the suggestions I've been given.
