hi

im sure theres been lots of threads about which console to for?

i have a xbox360 premium which i like but i was thinking about getting the elite eventually , but now im thinking perhaps im better off going for a ps3 because i would like the blueray

really not sure what i should do elite or ps3?

cheers

i wouldn't say an elite was worth getting if you have a premium unless your seriously considering using the video marketplace when its released.

If you really think you'll use blu ray then a ps3 is definitely worth it.

hi

to me it looks like blue-ray will win the race and if i get a ps3 it saves me oneday having to fork out hundreds on a stand alone blueray player

But if/when blue ray wins the price of the players wont be £100's

Like shami says, it's not really worth getting a elite if you already have a Premium. Grab yourself a PS3 and you have the best of both worlds.

in that case id say its not worth it, if you like your games then the 360's line up looks arguably far superior. If you were to get a ps3 i think you'd end up using it mainly as a blu ray player, as most of the good games on the ps3 you are likely to already have on the 360.

You've not been keeping up with events of the last few days.

Paramount and Dreamworks have just both dropped Blu Ray and past and future releases including Transformers and Shrek 3 are now HD-DVD exclusive. Universal has issued a statement saying this vindicates their descision to remain exclsive and it's heavily rumoured Warner Brothers will be joining them as HD-DVD exclusive the next week or so. We'll have to see.

At the moment HD-DVD are firmly in the driving seat and we could even see this war put to bed before too long.

Edit: This shouldn't put you off buying a PS3. The Blu-Ray player will undoubtably be useful for it's exclusive games and you'll be able to buy a £100 HD-DVD player buy the middle of next year. (Stand-alone, not the already priced £100 HD-DVD add on for the 360).

I think that's probably best. The Paramount annoucement has left everyone reeling and it'll be a few weeks until we really know what's happening.

Atm it's

Blu-Ray> Sony, Fox, Disney
Neutral > Warner Brothers (though there are exclusive HD-DVD titles at present)
HD-DVD> Paramount, Dreamworks, Universal

The Paramount deal is only for 18 months, and doesnt include any Speilberg films, its just a $150 million life raft for a year! Universal are still considering moving over to BD aswell, so in a 18 months time there could be no exclusive studios for HD DVD. Dont forget some of the other smaller studios have now changed to BD and Blockbusters stores are 85% BD so rental will be much better for BD

Back on topic I havent got a 360 but i wouldnt give my PS3 up for one and vica versa, If i was in your situation I'd wait till I had enough money for both.

If you really want Blu-Ray get a Blu-Ray reader for your PC, they are about £150.

Use a VGA/DVI lead to your HDTV or whatever you use and you're sorted.

or a standalone hd-dvd player from ockers for £175. Thats cheap!.

Ive heard that there may be £100 hd-dvd players for christmas, very tempting.

THAT statement a few days ago wont make a HUGE difference - the way the (admittedly limited) public have been voting by buying 2-3 times as many BR's does kind of point to HD-DVD trying to stop the tide turning irreversibly rather than an actual step forward

Toshiba really need to make usability a top priority imo - boot up times are terrible on the E1 - and that is why its so cheap nowadays. Most new hardware releases will be at the £200+ mark I would guess for some time to come (the E1 is already nearly a year old after all)

Elite not worth getting IMO... Value for money (bang for your buck) at the moment i would say;

360 Premium > PS3 > 360 Core > 360 Elite
