It has a manufacture date of 2007-6-22

Looked at mine aswell and no idea how you would tell apart from ripping it apart. Mine has a manufacture date of 2007-6-24.

isnt it just possible to download or recover your live account onto the new machine. i havent got many games on the drive, so starting them again wont bother me.

I'm doing an account recovery atm (pretty painless).

It's serial number ends in: 72505. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere this indicates whether it's a Falcon or not.

got this of some site someone posted this not sure if its correct:

"If your serial number is XXXX-YYYY, then you were manufactured on date AA/BB/CC and will probably have Falcon :confused:

It should say on the sticker of the box apparently ends with either zephyr or falcon... other than that all I have heard is that models produced July 2007 or later with #0728 or later are apparently the new one. Not sure how true it is

I really can't get over how quiet it is (ok theres no DVD in). I just switched on my old one and the blast nearly knocked me over. Bodes well for playing DVDs and for when I get my HD-DVD drive.

Ahh, my lot number on the sticker on the box says #0725

Edit: and after looking at various web sites I can confirm it has the new BenQ DVD drive which is nice.

Mine's got #0726, Team FDOU

Not had a chance to physically open it yet as I'm at work, but after looking on the web, it looks like it could be a BenQ drive also.

Checked the box mine is #0726 but the DVD drive is a Hitachi according to the pictures on the web, still reasonably quiet though.

Still not had a chance to check. Might see about getting it out of the box after lunch. BenQ or Hitachi, I'm not really fussed. As long as it's a bit quieter than the release day core unit that I traded for my PS3 earlier in the year I'll be happy.

I was suprised seeing the elite priced at £299 today in a certain store, previously the price was thought to be £330.
