Elite + Update

Hey, bought a new 360 elite lastnight and tried to recover my gamertag from live, as soon as it tries to connect to live it says theres an update for the console. When it tries to update it keeps failing - the 360 is connected directly to my CM and is not going through a router or anything. When I first inserted halo 3 in the game updated fine which is strange, any help is appreciated. I tried the network settings with using an alternative MAC address ( being my pc MAC - saves me resetting the CM all the time ) and without an alternative address. On the network test it only seems to **** up on the LIVE test. I wonder if there were issues with the update process because of the amount of traffic?

European launch of halo 3 broke Live.

Live seems to be ******** it's biscuits at the moment, it won't recover gamertags for anyone. It's taking a hammering due to Halo 3.

I tried to redeme a code for 1600 points and it gave me the invalid code error. Could this have anything to do with it ?

definitly make sure, and do it 20 times and get someone to read it to you (lol - i balls up a code that i thought was broken ) if it dont work report back
