Yes I didn't buy it :D

Right well it had been turning it self off and when coming back on no output on screen. Tried a few times to boot up and it booted but got a "BIOS Checksum Error" and it started searching for disks. After turning off again and restarting I got into XP, but it soon turned itself off again and would not show anything on screen again. So i checked all connections and they were fine but I did notice the case fan not running and the CPU fan running slowly. I can hear it booting and sounds like its ok, but nothing on screen and don't like the fact the case fan isnt working and the CPU fan is running slow.

List of what I have tried:
  • Different PSU
  • Checked Connections
  • New Battery
  • Removing Case Fan
  • One stick of RAM

Specs:
P4
MSI MS-7173 (RC410M)
1.5gb RAM

Im sure something needs replacing but I need help working out what that is?

I've repaired one of those.
The motherboard is some no name thing that has been cut down to a minimum. (modeled on something better)
This one just wouldn't boot. It had a light on mobo and thats all.
I replaced the motherboard with one from Asrock and it's been OK since.

You cleared CMOS?

They have habit of dyeing just as warrantee runs out.

This is the hard bit.
Unless your 100% sure what bust, you may have to take a gamble.
I doubt you can still buy a MSI MS-7173......this one?
You may end up looking over here for something with a similar spec that fits in the case, and then see if you can find one to buy.

I'm only assuming it's the mobo thats bust tho. 9 times out of 10 it is, but thats the gamble you may have to take unless you have another CPU memory etc.

Why Asrock you ask...well they seem to continue to make stuff long after other manufactures phase them out.
