Hi all,
I have been asked by a friend to help him identify his options when it comes to sorting out his company's growing email problem. They are facing the following:
10 users
Each with 10+ GB of emails (1 or 2 PST files each)
Mailbox is an IMAP connection to an ISP account (1GB mailbox per user)
Hence the majority of their emails are currently 'archived' on their individual machines in an ever growing PST file.
They want to sort this out, but have limited budget, and also wish to introduce a decent backup system into the solution.
So far I have suggested manual archiving from the inbox into PST files (creating a new PST each financial year, with sub-folders for active projects). Any projects overlapping multiple years can be shifted from the previous year's PST file, and those closed projects can be left and 'archived'. This is how I use my email system and it keeps both mailbox small and my archives organised... the only down side is that my emails aren't available via WebMail because I drag them out of my inbox and into the current PST on my HDD.... but for me it works.
Back up would make use of Datamills' software, which can provide incremental PST backups. Each day the changes would be copied to their office server and from there backed-up onto their removable storage solution.
They are not keen on a purely cloud based solution, since the logistics of getting 100GB of email into the cloud are unknown.... and likely to be expensive.
Can anyone offer any other alternatives? Does anyone have any PST-free solutions?
Many thanks in advance,
MW
