I have a windows 7 x64 laptop with a fresh OS install. I have multiple yahoo accounts and im looking for a compatible email client as i have been having a few issues.

Up until recently i was using Thunderbird, it seemed to get slower and slower and take longer to load and check for emails, for this reason i dont want to install it again.

I was trying EM client but it is having issues with imap and yahoo servers, my andorid email app collects mail fine and EM client throws errors.

So what can you guys recommend?

Nice article, thanks for the link.

Out of the 5 in that article EM client is not working with Yahoo mail. I installed claws email, i have tried everything and i cant get it to receive my yahoo emails, i gave up. Mailbird Lite only supports one account so that is no good. I dont want to use Thunderbird again as i know it was performing poorly in the past. I have yet to try Opera but they gave it 3 star, no harm trying it.

I can still get Thunderbird to collect my mail on my other laptop yet i cant get any other clients to work using the same settings.

with thunderbird if you have a big inbox/folders not selected for offline use, you can find that access is slow since there would be IMAP traffic across the newtork, I have
linked tbird up to a BT yahoo mail box and it behaved OK.
Older emails are also just in a local folder and not kept on yahoo.

I haven installed Opera, again it would not work with Yahoo mail. I tried a few things and discovered that in the imap settings i should set the authentication to AUTH PLAIN, this seems to work now for all my Yahoo accounts. I dont like Opera though, the UI is a bit bland and it lacks a few features also.

I will experiment further but i may end up going back to Thunderbird, if i do i will set up offline folders and see if that helps.

I had the same problem a while ago when Microsoft updated the server side of there email system but decided not to support the changes on anything but windows 10. The Mail client on windows 7 was feature rich, stable and supported many accounts at the same time.
I use 2 MS accounts and 2 google acounts. I searched for a long time. The only client that works with that many accounts and has the UI and features you need on win7 is Thunderbird. Yes, its slow and buggy.

Thanks for your reply. I might end up trying Thunderbird again as i really dont like the Opera UI. I got Em client to work because the newest updated version is now working with Yahoo mail, sadly it only allows you 2 free accounts.

It is crazy in this day and age it is so difficult to find good email clients .

I feel your pain as I've been through it all myself in the not so distant past. I wanted a mail/contacts/calendar client and ended up paying for em client as it really is a good client and way better than the alternatives. The only other real option was Thunderbird with some plugins and I just didn't like it, even for free.

I have to agree that em client does seem really good for the month i used it, there latestest version has fixed the yahoo mail problem. For £30 it is a bit more than im prepared to pay right now. I could manage £10 for such software but not £30. It would mean persevering with Thunderbird instead.

Have you tried Outlook or are you wanting a free alternative?

Do you mean the outlook attached to Office 2016. I tried the office 2003 version of outlook, it did not sync my yahoo accounts. I tried the 2016 version, same again, it would not sync. There may be a setting somewhere than makes the yahoo mail work but when i fired in the correct email settings it did not work.

thunderbird will do it, I use it for multiple yahoo accounts

Yeah but as i said it performs really slowly for me, it did however work with multiple accounts including yahoo just fine. I may end up returning to Thunderbird if i dont have an alternative that works with yahoo.
