Email hosts?

I want to set up my own email account to be [email protected] which I will then keep for the rest of my internet using life. I am not too bothered about the amount of email boxes or other fancy stuff, I just want POP3 (etc.) mail box to use with Outlook. Who is the cheapest? Who do you recommended to go with?

(Got my first ever virus looking for companies to go with - eraseme-34648.exe :D )

Edit:If it is the same price, 6 emails would be great.

Some of the really huge web hosts can offer pretty cheap deals on email only domain usage. 1and1 spring to mind - something like £10/year for 5 IMAP/POP3 mailboxes with antivirus & antispam, 150 aliases and unlimited forwarders.

Another vote for 1and1.

If you've got a spare box do a host-from-home job. Its really easy if you have a spare box. Will be happy to provide more detailed advice.

Why not just register the domain name and forward all mail to a web based provider?

I have a number of domains registered thru 123reg.co.uk and by default they all point to my gmail account.

1and1 seem to be cheaper then 123 and includes 5 email accounts.

I was thinking about hosting it from my PC through IIS - which I already have set up - but wouldn't my PC need to be on all the time?

I don't mind paying 81p a month and £1.99 a year for a domain. :)

Freakish, I would be interested as I have a spare server at home that is on at all times connected to the net (streaming music to work); any pointers/tut's to get this set up?

Cheers,
Jamie.
