A request to see if anyone has a good/easy/simple solution to the following set-up I am trying to sort out for my father-in-law and his business.

Just got my FiL sorted out on broadband and he is now plannning to take all his job bookings for via a word document attached via email (an idea of the guy who sends him the jobs).

I personally think that that is a long winded way of doing things, just typing the same info into an email would be the same as typing it into a Word doc and then attaching it; just makes more work for same result.

What I was asking is whether there is any way of having an set-up whereby my FiL can have attachment to an email, double click it and it is automatically added to an online calander (say google calander). If so what format would the attachment be - or what program would it have to go via (trying to create a sort of on-line back-up incase his PC goes on the blink)

Hope this makes sense.

:)

There are ical (ics) files that do this, they arrive as an email attachment which you open then click on save and it's added to your calendar (in Outlook). But the sender would need to create a calendar entry in their calendar then forward it (this is how it works in Outlook).
