Email Problems after ICS Update

I tried looking elsewhere on the internet and never get any further, after contacting samsung this really is my last resort.

I have a samsung galaxy note which I used the stock email app before the ICS update, all worked perfectly and suited syncing my hotmail and univerisity email. But now after updating I am having problems syncing my hotmail accounts.

Basically its not marking the messages on the server as read when I read them on the phone, meaning when i get home I still have a bunch of "supposed" unread emails.

I remember on the gingerbread software the email settings had an option reading "delete from server" which meant if I deleted from the phone it would delete on the sever as well as marking them as read.

Contacted samsung and they told me to do a factory reset, which didnt work - replied and another CA responded telling me to do the same thing!

Anyone know what I can do to solve it?

after you've read the emails do you "refresh"? This will tell the server that the email has been read. I find that helps with the problem you are experiencing, I sometimes have little quirks like that too.

Since the last update to my Asus Transformer the email application doesn't work at all with hotmail. Just one of the many bugs we have to put up with from android to enjoy its flexibility.....sigh.

My brother has this with the stock email as well, only on an S2 ( Stock), since the ICS update it simply stopped bringing down any emails at all, it just sits blank, but got another email client and used it and it works fine.
Very strange.
