Hi all,

With a small network running Exchange and SBS 2008...

All mailboxes etc are working perfectly, as i'm using a POP/SMTP connector to retrieve emails from my host (shared server, cpanel, pop etc).

One of the addresses is set to automatically copy the email to a secondary address (in Cpanel) - this works fine, apart from when someone within the network tries to email this address (as it's sent internally to another mailbox, it doesn't have to go via the server).

Any ideas how I can get it to also copy to the external, secondary email address?

Thanks!

As far as I know you can't have Exchange automatically copy sent emails to another address - I could be mistaken of course but it was something I looked into briefly a little while ago for a client.

Probably the easiest way is to create an "archive" mailbox and have people CC internal emails there, or use Exchange's journalling feature, which archives incoming and outgoing mail. A Google search should bring up plenty of info.

Rather than copying sent emails, can it copy recieved mails? If that's another way to look around it?

You can forward received mail to an alternative location. I do this for a client to send emails to their Blackberry - they don't want to pay for RIM services or whatever it's called! :p

It is very simple to do:

Open up Exchange Management Console, then go to Recipient Config > Mail Contact.
Create a new Mail Contact - giving a useful name and alias for the contact. This is the address you are forwarding to.
In Recipient Config > Mailbox select the user and right-click then choose Properties.
Under the Mailflow Settings click Delivery Options then Properties.
Put a check in Forward to: and then browse for the contact you just created. Put a check in Deliver message to both forwarding address and mailbox. Click OK and OK again.

EDIT: You might not want to check Deliver message to both. Thinking about it, you would be getting multiple copies of the same emails since you are sending a copy to the mailbox you are pulling messages from!

Repeat for each user, using the same Mail Contact.

Unfortunately I do not know how to apply this to all users [rather than doing each separately].
