Sorted the drives regards raid and had to format drive as I could not boot at all so had to install new xp. Does anyone know of any recovery program that will help me get back emails as I some v.important emails that only came in Sat so didnt back up the folder!

Any advice welcomed as I really need to try and get mails back!

Thanks

Difficult to say. If you've reformatted and installed windows over the drive which held your email data it could well have already been overwritten. The more that is written to that disk the more likely it is.

You could try some of those file recovery utilities but I have no idea of costs for windows based ones.

Can you ask the person to resend these uber important emails?

Looks like that what I will have to do, what about other files etc do you think these software programs can get other data back as they claim?

Save most items on seprate drive and back up to that monthly but had not done Nov and Dec bloody typical.

Thanks for advice so far much appreciated:D

Oh and only had one write over the drives

A lot of the recovery programs show you what they are able to recover, then won't proceed until you input a valid registration code. Shame they cost so much for basically a single use application.

Getdataback is a good one.

I'd take this as a sign to switch to some web base account like gmail. So should you delete you local stored messages, at least you have a web version for back up. Especially useful for computercomponent receipts.

Was only running outlook express and office 2003 pro but not sure what version. Looked at getdataback but that required me to wire up hard drives to other drive (messin around inside the box got me in this trouble to start with :D). Have downloaded powerdatarecovery and that scanning now so will see how that turns out, but would still welcome any ideas in case this is pants.

Thanks

Well powerdatarecovery found 11000 files inc outlook express files, am just saving to partion then will check data tomorrow will let you know if this has worked and how well (Looks like it will take a while to save data over).

Thanks for all help so far.:D

oops that should be 110000 files.
