Right, i'm putting in here as I think it's more Internet related than anything else.

Over the last month or two i'm getting quite a lot of spam emails - probably about 10-15 a day.

I use Outlook Express so it dosen't take 2 mins to just hit delete, but i'm getting a bit fed up of it and was wondering if there was any way to wipe it out altogether? Sure, I can set up mail rules etc but all that means is I still get the spam, it just deletes it automatically. Plus, they always find ways round it, such as replacing letters with exclamation marks etc.

It's not a standard free webmail service or i'd expect lots of spam and junk, I use 1 of the mailboxs which comes with my domain.

Any help/advice appreciated.

Cheers.

Stop posting your e-mail address everywhere!!
This is the only way to keep a Spam free e-mail address.
I own numerous domain names, one of which is my e-mail domain which has no website associated with it - I only use it for e-mail.

First I've switched off the "catchall" address.
This is the system whereby [email protected] is automatically captured - if it isn't addressed directly to me then I'm not interested.
So I have my domain name.

Next I have my premium e-mail address - this is the one that only friends and family have access to.
It's currently [email protected]

Next I have my registering at "good" websites address - this is the address I use to register at known good sites where I know the address won't be sold on to anyone else.
Currently this is [email protected]

Next I have the legal requirement. Not everyone does it, however the address [email protected] is a legal address for anyone needing to get in touch with me with regards the domain name.

Finally I have my throw away address - this is what I use for everywhere else.
As soon as it starts attracting a lot of Spam etc I simply delete the address and create a new throw away address.

My premium address attracts around 1-2 pieces of Spam a month.
My "good guys" registration address gets around the same.
hostmaster@ gets a few a day, maybe 3-4
Currently my "throw away" address is seeing around 20 a day so soon I'll be deleting that one and creating a new one.

Unfortunately you'll never totally eliminate Spam.
Also once your address is on a Spam list there is no removal - it will be on there for ever.
So be careful who you give your address to and as an owner of your own domain create a few addreses including a throw away one.
Also if your host gives you the option you should "Blackhole" any e-mail sent to an unknown address or "catchall".
This means that if you take my domain (as listed above) only mail sent to one of the 4 known addresses will make it through to me.
Anything addressed elsewhere will be blackholed, no bounced message (because that tells a sending mail server that something is listening).
